F#$@ing Guru Lover

Written by / Posted in internet crew / 14 Comments

I did an e-mailing to the guys on my list a few months ago to tell them about a cool product I found, and one of the e-mails I got back said F$%CK YOU GURU LOVER! This was a very odd e-mail. Never gotten anything close to hate mail before, so the “content” stuck with me. πŸ™‚

During the past four months since I discovered Frank Kern I have been studying the info marketing gurus. There is a loosely defined pack of guys, who market the living bejeebus out of each others products, and have a massive following. For those of you who are part of this world, you must think I am crazy that I did not even know they existed until 4 months ago at Frank Kern’s List Control event. This world consists of products like List Control, Kajabi, Product Launch Formula, Traffic Geyser, and on and on. A lot of people buy millions of dollars of these guys products every year. Most of these products are sold through partnerships with strategic partners, often on a 50/50 split.

For those of you in the “guru” world, the world I come from has events in it like Pubcon which has a few thousand people, Adtech, again a few thousand attendees, and Affiliate Summit with also thousands of attendees. Most of the attendees consider themselves internet marketers. There are very few info products, and instead information is shared freely, or through paid consulting. This is not a small nor insignificant world, with companies deeply involved with it such as google and facebook. In this world I am as Neil Patel says about himself, kinda a big deal.

So I have been spending the weekend at Jeff Walkers Product Launch Formula event. During it I have met the worlds winningest dog trainer for doggy obstacle courses (which has a technical name that alludes me), the world champion at hitting a golf ball the farthest, and gotten to be good friends with Mike Murphy,Β  who is a producer, director and animator, and has done some bad ass animation like being 1/6th of the animators on Golem in Lord of the Rings, and the guy who animated Mrs. Butterworth in the Geico ads. Fricken brilliant and warm good guy. All of these guys are training at internet marketing to take what they rock at, and get it online in a big way.

There is a lot less drinking at this event than there is my “normal” internet events. There are some heavily technical people, and a lot of brilliant people. Most of the people are very, very, very nice. They are polite.

It was great to meet Jeff Walker today face to face for the first time. In fact he hugged me. πŸ™‚ Turned out Jeff watched some of Jenny and mines crazy videos and liked them. I was really touched by that. In fact a lot of the people at the event had watched them. I have learned one thing about doing internet marketing to internet marketers, it is that by doing so they know you, and your reputation may be good, or it may be bad. I give a lot and take very little from internet marketers, so it acts as a nice calling card before I ever meet them.

I find that very few people in the “guru” space, or their students go to the events I normally do, and visa versa. I think the few people that learn and understand both sides of the tracks on this, are positioned to kick some major ass, and the rest who because of their own fears do not, will be held vastly back in their success. In face, through learning the Product Launch Formula, it has totally changed the way I view and use facebook ads for me and my clients.

So yes, I am now a F#$%ing Guru lover. :), but I still love Matt Cutts too. πŸ™‚

Affiliate Marketing in China

Written by / Posted in affiliate / 15 Comments

I am working with a company and at the moment am helping them to monetize some of their visitors from China and India. My initial instinct on this was, waste of traffic, there is no money in this.

Then I was at the Range Rover repair shop getting my wife’s car fixed, and I remembered that Rage Rover was now owned by a company in India. I also know my country is in debt to China to a point where they could call it a day for us at any time.

There are a lot of poor people in China and in India. With the shift of the worlds assets during the past 2 years, there are also a lot of poor Americans. It is a new world order, and to consider all Chinese and Indians and poor is a bad, bad mistake.

In fact two months ago I was contacted by a very nice guy in Katmandu, at the base of the Himalayas, Dali Lama country. My jaw dropped to my knees when I told him my hourly rate for consulting for the type of work he neeeded was $250 per hour, and he paid without hesitating.

Affiliate marketing in this part of the world is just getting started, but last time I was in Vegas it was the Chinese that were paying the big money gambling and eating at Wing Lei at the Wynn. Just look inside any of the high limit rooms in Vegas, and see who’s playing.

With clicks on Facebook in the U.S. costing around a buck each, and traffic from China getting around $0.001 per click, do you think there might be a market imbalance?

If you are in the game monetizing Chinese or Indian traffic, let me know, maybe we can work together. Maybe it is time for me to get to work on my Mandarin.

Wait! This isnt Aaron from Azoogle!

Help Me At BlogWorld

Written by / Posted in internet events / 12 Comments

On Friday I will be speaking with John Chow, Shoemoney, Zac Johnson, and Jonathan Volk answering everyones questions.

I think they only have room for 50 people. When shoemoney and I spoke to hundreds of people at Affiliate Summit they shut the doors and wouldn’t let any more people in from what I heard. With this crowd of speakers, I expect that the room will fill up in about 2 minutes, LOL.

If you want to guarantee to get in to hear us answer any and all questions and want to be in the center of the action, then e-mail me.

I need a couple of people to help me with the audience.

Job includes handing out index cards and pens to the audience,
making sure they wrote in a way I can read,
then picking them up after they are filled out and bringing them to me.

If you are already going to be at blogworld, no I can’t get you a free pass,
and want to help me, just e-mail me at dk(at)purposeinc.com

It should be fast, fun, furious, and controversial as this is one of most outspoken
group of people I have ever met.

Selling My First Domain Name

Written by / Posted in domains / 27 Comments

I own 290 domain names.

That means I am spending almost $3,000 per year just to hang onto these.

Very few of these are developed yet.

Quite a few of them are variants of my name, and family members name.
(I highly recommend you buy those all up while you have the chance and no one is attacking you.)

All of them have some idea or plan behind them of what they are to become.

About every month or two I get a request in the mail of someone wanting to buy a domain name.

Usually the person has no idea what the domain is really worth.

If it is an exact match domain, like one of my cityname followed by the word chiropractic, such as BeverlyHillsChiropractic.com (which I don’t own), it can easily make the owner tens of thousands of dollars per year extra or even a hundred thousand dollars per year extra if they know what to do with it. Often people offer me a few hundred dollars for these domains, and I politely explain what can be done with it and the value.

It is funny, because I bought SanDiegoChiropractic.com for $500 a few years ago which could be very valuable to me, when I finally develop it properly.

A lot of my domain names are simply brandable domains that I bought for one idea or another. One of my favorites is roadfish.com

This spring I got one of these anonymous requests to purchase urbid.com

I had thought the name was very clever, but I did not own yourbid.com which I thought would make a good pair. I figured one day whoever owned yourbid.com would make me an offer on urbid.com so they could complete the pair.

When the offer came in, I believe the were offering me something like $500. An offer that high to me means the person is serious about buying it. I figured they must be the owners of yourbid.com

I put the word out that I needed the advice of a good domain appraiser. I believe it was Lauren Vacaerllo, genius SEO and internet marketer who got me in touch with a domainer. It is amazing how many great referrals she gets me. The domainer said something like, sell it quick at $500.

So I countered with $10,000. I didn’t think they would take it, but figured I could always come back down to $500 if needed. I didn’t need the money at the moment, and was just enjoying the game.

I get the word back from godaddy who was the go between, and I get a story that $5,000 is as far as they can go, and even that was pushing it.

I politely agreed to $5,000 and we put it into escrow.

I have often asked how to value a domain, and have heard many others ask the same question. The answer I hear the experts say is whatever the market can bear, often determined by one individuals value of the domain.

In this case the guys who bought it valued it at $5,000, but it could have just as easily sold for $10,000 or $500, or not at all. In fact I still have never gotten an offer for roadfish.com and it is one of my favorite domains of all.

Kajabi

Written by / Posted in internet crew / 20 Comments

If you are on my list you have seen my non Kajabi videos.

You probably noticed that last month we killed it with the
networking videos.

Last month my e-mail list increased by 300%.

And that was selling to you guys, meaning us, internet entrepreneurs,
the most sophisticated consumers in the world

We can not be fooled.

The only way to sell to us is with quality. (Fast forward to quality.)
The hardest part of the videos was the technical aspect of getting
them online and getting them to show.

I am sure that sometimes you saw them pause, and stall etc.

In fact the videos to promote my poker tournament are coming up,
and I have a programmer working
night and day on a site to show them.

That is because I couldn’t get Andy Jenkins to release Kajabi soon enough.

Well now, here it comes.

If you have any interest in video, then watch this link, and see what the future is
going to be like. I am begging Andy to let me buy this early so I can use it for the poker
tournament videos.

Learn about Kajabi here.

But you can’t buy it yet. Whatever Andy.

Much Love,
dk

Oh, and if you buy it off this link, I make like enough money

for a super high end burger, shake, and dessert.

It’s not that expensive if you are going to show video.

Playing With Bunnies – A Picture Book

Written by / Posted in affiliate / 40 Comments

Well, I got invited back to the Playboy Party again this year thrown by Epic Direct Advertising (formerly Azoogle). It is almost embarrassing just how much fun it is.

In an industry made up of cowboys and pirates, each year they show themselves to evolve into an ever more sophisticated company, with solid statistics and credibility in every direction, while never losing their soul. Hence the party at the Playboy Mansion!

If you have been following my training about how to network, you will understand my passion on the subject of being connected with the best and the brightest. This party is like shooting fish in a barrel, or as I refer to it, a Diamond mine. It is a multi day party, with a pool party, cocktail parties, brunch, and the main event at Heffs House.

At most internet get togethers, it takes a few minutes to determine if someone is a real player or not. At this event, they either are a major player online, or they work for Epic, and most of the Epic employees are major players themselves.

The environment is so much fun, that everyone who is part of this β€œin” group, is automatically your friend. Introductions come easily, and smoothly.

Mike Sprouse pulled off the event in great style.

It got totally wild, and that is just on the sidewalk leaving the hotel on the way to the party!

That is my wife in the middle.

The food was amazing, the entertainment gorgeous, the food was as good as any great restaurant.

It was just straight up fun!

Michael Sprouse was showing off his new fiance Kate, by now his wife! When I first met her, I honestly thought she was a playmate. She was just sweet as pie, kind, warm, and of course drop dead gorgeous.

How cool do I feel, hanging out and talking to a bunny, which I talked to last year, exchanging contact info and getting to be friends. I mean, come on, how fricken cool does that make me feel!

One of the greatest things about this event is that it was the second year. People I met last year, got to be better friends this year, and those that were good friends became great ones.

The next pic is of me and tennis star Michael Sprouse, who also used to be in charge of online marketing for Playboy, and not is in charge of marketing at Epic Direct Advertising, but the name doesn’t really capture all he does at the company.

This is Scott, bunny hunting.

Levi Matkins dazzled everyone with his dance moves. Watch the three photo sequence below.

This next one really shows off his moves!

Whooooo!!!

This was crazy, they brought in a dozen performers, doing dance, gymnastics, and just going wild.

I got to hang out with Art Shaw, the new CEO of Epic Direct. Art immediately struck me as being polished, brilliant, and the perfect guy to lead this powerhouse of a company.

I can’t even tell you how many hot girls there were. Just everywhere.

You know the pole dancer is good, when the painted naked girls stop to watch!

I am not even kidding about these two. Jenny, the blonde and her buddy are visiting from the Czech Republic, and were on a one month road trip through the U.S. This picture just happened to capture them where all of our lives intersected. I just loved how much fun they were having with all the internet geeks. What an amazing time in their lives as well. I remember the blonds name was Jenny. America thanks you for visiting Jenny!

Thanks to every single person who was part of this party, again just amazing!

The Expiration Of the Long Sales Letter

Guest Post By Justin Goff, buddy, and fitness affiliate genius!

(Full Disclosure – I didn’t get nuttin for posting this!)

Long, ugly sales letters are about to be dead…

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last year, you’ve probably noticed the traditional long sales letter is slowly being replaced by video (especially in the information product business).

However, the “hot” new videos that are raking in mountains of cash aren’t just any old videos. It’s a specific kind of video.

Enter the powerpoint video with voiceover.

112% Conversion Increase

I first tested this video out for our new lose belly fat product (see the video we use at
31DayFatLossCure.com/Abs
) and we saw a 112% conversion increase over the long sales letter.

The video and the sales letter had the EXACT same copy, yet the video outpulled the sales letter by 112%.

Now the real beauty of this is that it’s really damn easy to put these kinds of videos together.

Unlike writing a long sales letter you really don’t have to be a good copywriter to pull this off. It certainly helps, and you need to know the principles of selling but it’s not as much of an “essential” as it is with a sales letter.

How You Can Pull In Buckets Of Cash With A Video Like This

– Affiliate Offers

This is something I would definitely split test if I was pushing people to a landing page before I sent them to an offer (CPA or Clickbank). If you made a video talking about the product and your experiences I almost GUARANTEE you it would pull better than a text landing page or a fake blog with the same information.

– Direct Link

The beauty of a sales video like this is you can direct link to it without anyone thinking you are trying to sell anything. Because the way we have it setup now, the “Add To Cart” button does not pop up until the end of the video when we pitch them the product.

So if people just show up at the video they aren’t scared off by the threat of being sold something…

Think about all the places you could direct link to this and make some money…

– Forums

– Yahoo Answers

– Blog Comments

– Article Sites Like Squidoo, Ezine Articles

You could easily make $2,000-$5,000 a month just direct linking to this video from sites like Yahoo Answers and Niche Forums…

Now if you want to do your own affiliate offers and try to use this strategy, then here’s how you make the video…

How To Make Your Own Cash Pulling Powerpoint Video

Here’s how we made our video…

1. First write out a script for the video in Word.

2. Then turn those into small slides using either Powerpoint or Google Docs.

3. Get a program like Screenflow or Camtasia and set up the recording area to the size of your slides.

4. Simply read through the slides and record your voiceover and the screen with one of the programs above…

5. You’re going to mess up, so try to do 3-5 slides at a time. Simply edit them all together at the end to complete the video.

That’s all there really is to it.

These kind of videos not only work great for direct linking type stuff, but we’re seeing a lot of success with Facebook Ads and media buys.

If you have any questions about using these videos in your business, feel free to leave me a comment and I’ll drop in to help

Product Launch Formula Review

Written by / Posted in internet crew / 26 Comments

This is my initial product launch formula review.

The quick summary is the stuff rocks. Super easy to understand, powerful info I have never come across before.

There has been an interesting effect though that I have never seen before.

Once I started promoting Jeff’s stuff, I got comments and responses to my e-mails like I have never seen before. I’ve seen this before. It happens in my chiropractic office sometimes.

Jeff’s message is so clear, and strong, and confident, with no apology. He is saying, and after seeing the materials I believe it, that if you study his material and follow it step by step, you will be able to make some money online.

When you see what he is outlining I can totally see how if someone was completely dumb about it, and just followed his instructions to the letter, I can not imagine how after doing it a few times, they would make back the money they spent on the course, and then have a job type income for the rest of their life. That is my opinion if they did it in a dumb lazy way.

On the other hand, the type of people who read my blog, who are mostly savy internet marketer types. If any of you guys followed this, well buddy, skies the limit.

I consider myself fairly sharp at this internet marketing stuff, but this guy is on a whole nother level. The day I do a million in sales in a few hours, then I will start criticizing him. But of course I wouldn’t.

By the way, the thing has a money back guarantee before X number of days.

I highly recommend if you have any desire to make money, to try it, but if you haven’t followed it and started making some money quickly, then get a refund.

Criticisms? I wish there was a way to speed up the playback so I could hear it faster and save a few minutes, but you know what, I allready made back my investment from this the first week, so who cares?

Check out Jeff Walkers Product Launch Formula.

And yes if you click on the links above and purchase I get a little chunk of change. That being said, everything above is my truly honest opinion.
